Kardashrine

A speculative design project. I created an artifact from a possible future, Kim Kardashians finger as a relic. Exploring our idealisation of celebrities and conasntly wanting access to them and consummerism.

‘Kardashrine

Consumerism continues to grow. Capitalism is manufacturing anything that people are willing to buy. Old celebrities, from the dawning age of social media and influencer careers: Kim Kardashian.

The late Kim Kardashian is stuff of well-documented legend. Every social media post made by her is still available for us to view, whenever we want. We can see proof of her existence everywhere we look for it. She is a god. However, what caused Kim to rise to fame in the early 2000’s, and keep climbing, was her ability to market herself on social media. So much so that people are desperate to have lived when she lived, so as to be able to see her in the flesh.

Thus, we present the unveiling of our new ‘KIM IN THE FLESH’ exhibition.

For a few months, we will have her finger on display, along with some special Kim merchandise in our shop – you too can have your very own Kim Kardashian finger to carry with you in your day-to-day life, so that she can be with you. Maybe she will grant you good luck? Either way, a fantastic souvenir to remember your time with us, and time you could have spent with her!‘
